The flower girls each carried “fairy princess” wands of nerine lilies rather than a basket with petals….

Of course!

The Bride (above) brought me some of the vintage ribbon from her mother’s bridal bouquet.  It was a pink satin acetate ribbon that had a few crinkles in it but nevertheless, sentimental.  She did not care how it was used in the bouquet, just so it was in there somewhere for “something old”.   So, I used it at the base of the handle  as an accent color peeking out from behind the  pearl trim.

This Bride brought a beautiful gold cross that was given to her by her fiance when they first started dating.  It was a fabulous addition to her bouquet.

If you look closely at this handle you can see a lace flower.  This was part of the Bride’s mother’s wedding dress.  Yes, we cut the wedding dress!  The Bride brought me her mother’s dress because she was too afraid to make the first cut.  So, I did the deed!  I used different parts of the lace and trim on the handles of all her wedding bouquets.  It added a very sweet and nostalgic touch.

The bride was expecting a very large amount of guests…..over 35 tables.  To add drama to the large white tent, I did the centerpieces on the head table completely different than the rest.  (See the three tall red centerpieces in the silver vases).  It definitely had the WOW factor!

This Bride and Groom met and fell in love in Hawaii. The Bride wanted to incorporate some native flowers while still keeping a soft romantic feel and not being overly “tropical”.   

Her colors were deep purple and fuschia with chocolate brown and pewter accents which was a fabulous combination.  We used a variety of orchids, tuberose, lilies, freesia and even rhodedendron to name a few!  The bouquets were very fragrant and full of great texture.

The wedding took place on the shores of beautiful Hayden Lake and they were blessed with absolutely perfect weather during a tempermental month.

I was amazed at how quickly she constructed a solid nest complete with a mud foundation, rim and soft grasses inside.  I kept thinking she would get scared by the comings and goings of people at my front door and abandon the nest.  But within days, she left four beautiful gifts!

The Robin made herself right at home and was very trusting.  She did not seem to be bothered by the happenings of daily life at my home.  I even had the freedom to peek inside the nest everyday anxious to monitor the progress!

I was more impatient than she was and I did not even have to sit and warm eggs 24/7!!!!

Finally, after thirteen days…….babies!!!!!

The first time I saw the babies, I was a bit shocked.  I was expecting cute fluffy things, but instead, they looked like not-too-distant relatives of ET.    Mostly naked with a random piece of fuzz poking out here and there and blue eye sockets.  They were so ugly, they were cute!!!!

Their solid diet of worm puree must have been comparable to humans eating nothing but Green Giant spinach. They grew so fast and changed literally daily!!!!   The change was so rapid that I bet if I had stood and stared at them for several hours non-stop, I might have been able to actually see a wing sprout out!!!

Before long, they were outgrowing the nest!

It took about two weeks and the birds were full-grown and left the nest to seek their fortunes!  That was a sad day.

Weddings can  be held outdoors in the beautiful garden gazebo!

Choosing flowers can be overwheming for some Brides.  To help take the stress out and make the process more relaxed and enjoyable, here are a couple suggestions for the initial consultation.

*Expect the initial consultation to take approximately 1 hour. 

1. Pictures/ magazine clippings of flowers and floral designs that inspire you and give me an idea of your style.   I also have numerous idea books for you to paruse.  Many Bride’s come with a very little picture of what they want and some come very opinionated and decisive.  Either way is great!  I am very intuitive and can usually get a sense of your individual style and make suggestions accordingly.
2. Bring pictures of the bride’s dress and the attendant’s dresses.
3. Bring swatches of the colors you are working with.
4. Bring a list of recipients of corsages and boutonnieres at your wedding.
5. Bring your maid of honor, a friend, and/or your mom and make a fun event out of it!
